A Bibliography of Fossil Man :
The contents of this bibliography include a comprehensive inventory of the publications available on the subject of prehistoric fossil man. This project covered the period 1845-1968.
In 1959, Part I: 1845-1955 of this Bibliography of Fossil Man of the Old World was issued with no real intention to continue the project. However, so many complimentary responses were received which then almost necessitated, and resulted in, the issuance of Part II: 1955-1963 in 1964. During the compilation of the bibliographic references for Part II [at the University of Wisconsin library], the availability of many foreign anthropological journals made it possible to check sources previously unattainable. That resulted in a third monograph, Appendix to Part I: 1845-1955.
Once a project thus is started, it is difficult to lose one’s interest… There is a first supplement Supplement No 1: 1963-1968. (There are a few publications listed, however, which pre-date 1963; these had not been bibliographed previously in any of the earlier parts, and so are included herein.) It seems that there were no following suppliments.
A few pages of corrections to Part I were also found - the corrections only go thru page 25 of Part I, so presumably further pages may exist if they are found (if anyone has these, please send a scan).
